I am a licensed clinical psychologist with experience providing individual, couples and group therapy to diverse client populations throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
At the root of my work is a desire to help others navigate the complexities of life with hope and transformational healing. Therapy provides the opportunity to make those connections and to heal interpersonal conflict and trauma as a result.
I integrate multiple theoretical perspectives in my work such as attachment theory, family systems theory and psychodynamic theory. I start from a psychodynamic perspective to understand emotional and cognitive internal processes. The psychodynamic perspective allows for observation into the desires, and drives of our mental and emotional life, which then influence our behaviors from birth continuing through our lifetime. The mysteries of the subconscious and non-verbal cues given implicitly and explicitly by our parents or caregivers impact our personality, our psyche, ultimately defining how we function, what we feel, what we think and ultimately who we become.
I believe it is important to understand one’s origins, parents, traditions, and culture because it is by looking at these pieces of the puzzle that one can then go on to see the individual. I believe when you can understand the origin, and the root of the cause, only then can attitudes and behaviors start to change. Once the individual has gained awareness and insight in to his or her own constructs and inner workings of the personality and psyche, then real change can occur.
Relationships are at the core of our human existence and we can restore our sense of purpose and happiness through the meaningful connections we nurture and importance we place in them. I work with you to unearth the elements that influence your self-perception and affect your relationships so that you can move beyond the past and achieve true personal and professional satisfaction.
My clinical interests include self-esteem and self-empowerment, anxiety and social anxiety, depression, relationship and body image issues.
My passion is working with individuals in all of life’s stages from adolescent to adult to elderly, with a focus on identity development, specifically addressing how family dynamics, as well as spirituality, impacts the development of one’s sense of self leading to greater meaning and purpose in life.
